Tire Description
The D402 is the approved Harley-Davidson touring tire. Built with a three-ply polyester casing with two fiberglass belts, the D402 offers greater load-carrying capacity and stability. Computer-optimized tread profile with offset center groove improves rider confidence over rain grooves and steel-grated bridges, while reducing cupping for even wear. The D402 is available in front and rear black, slim white-bar and wide-white sidewall, all with an H speed rating. New 130/70-18 front tire in blackwall for custom fitment.

Generally positive reviews of the Dunlop D402. Tire life and overall stability is praised. Many of the reviewers seem to have tire life as a priority, and that is the main reason they chose the Dunlop D402. So if you are looking for a longer-lasting tire the Dunlop D402 might be one to try. There was one report of the sidewall splitting.

109 reviews, 4.6 of 5 stars. On a 2006 HD Ultra Classic – noticed improved handling and traction after installing tires. Another reported going back to Dunlop after Metzeler, felt the Metzeler tires created a lot more road noise, and they wore quicker than the Dunlop.

Another says they have used Metzeler and Avon, but the D402 provides the best mileage. Another reports first tire lasted 15,000 miles, second lasted 18,000 miles, mostly city driving, never any problems cornering, sudden stops, accelerating.

44 reviews. 3.6 of 5 stars. On a 2008 Ultra Classic – goth 19,000 from the rear, 30,000+ from the front. On an Electra Glide Standard – averaged about 5,000 miles on the rear. On a Sportster – had the sidewall split, felt like they were wooden and lost grip easily if pushed, switched to Avon’s and liked those better. On a 2002 FXDXT – rear tire lasted 35,000 each year.
