Tire Description

Dunlop’s Carbon Fiber Technology (CFT) employed in the Q3+ uses carbon fiber reinforcement in the tire sidewalls for exceptional cornering performance and feel. Aggressive Q3+ tread pattern uses minimal tread grooves that are long in length to enhance wet-weather performance. Intuitive Response Profile™ (IRP) technology in the Q3+ rear tire allows greater latitude in line choice while cornering, plus amazingly linear steering. MT Multi-Tread™ technology in the Q3+ rear tire uses a silica-infused, long-wearing compound in the center of the tread for longer tread life, and special lateral grip compounds on the left and right shoulders for outstanding grip. The all-new Q3+ offers superb grip, stability, steering feel and longevity on the street and on the track.

PROS:

  • Handles well

CONS:

  • Needs time to warm up

  • Does not work well in the cold

Overall Review

The Dunlop Q3 plus Sportmax is a mixed street and track tire. Some reports of cold weather handling issues, but otherwise people like the tire.

Reviews by Source

112 reviews, 4.8 of 5 stars. One reviewer says they last a little longer than the Dunlop Q4, more of a sport bike than track tire, wear evenly. On a 2017 FZ-10, slower to heat than S22, does not handle well in cold, handles well in the warm, mid-corner adjustments are seamless. On a CBR600RR, likes the Michelin RS better, compared to Q3 feels like you need to put weight into turn, made the bike feel heavy. On an RSV4, use for road and track day at Willow Springs, can't think of a better tire. On a 2002 Yamaha R1, good for canyon and track days. Another who rides in all weather did not like the tire, in cold/wet high sided, recommended the Michelin Road 5.

41 reviews, 4.9 of 5 stars. One rider says they are great on grip and good on mileage. Another says mounting was easy, handling is incredible. On a ZRX, right to left transitions are effortless, profiles are perfect for selecting and holding to a line. On a Yamaha R6, feel more comfortable and confident on these tires than any other, heat up quickly and stick, no slipping when cornering. On an R6, traction is good. Another got 9k miles.

122 ratings, 4.8 of 5 stars. One rider got 2,500 miles and then the tire cracked. Another feels the Q3+ is stiffer than the Q3, handles better. Another used the tire at a racing school and performed well.
